The advantage to having done more pub crawls than anyone else in the city, is that I have the widest range of classic bars, and the best bartenders in the city, at my disposal. These people are my friends. New Orleans is a cocktail town, with reason. This is an evening of classic concoctions, ghost stories, city history, drinking tales, and voodoo. I’ll tie all of these points together into a cohesive experience of chills, laughs, and must-have drink suggestions. This is still well-researched history, but I’m here to make it fun. Let me save you from the dull recitation of New Orleans’ bullet points – I put on a show. This is storytelling, and through these stories, I will help you connect with one of the most amazing cities on the planet.
I will balance the tour locations based on group interest. This is an introduction to the important signature drinks of New Orleans. However, this is definitely unpretentious. You are not required to buy anything, drink what you wish. In between bars, we will visit some historical, and haunted locations, while I weave all the content into a well-rounded evening. This is perfect for groups with a wide range of interests…..except vampire stories, I don’t do vampire stories, those are made up.
It is logistically easier to let you buy your own drinks, I don’t provide them
1850 House Museum (523 St Anne) in Jackson Square(Google Map)
5 P.M. or 8 P.M (Private bookouts available)
We will visit classic and neighborhood bars that have some of the best bartenders in the city. With drinks in hand, we will walk and stop at historical places between each bar, and hear some of the old ghost stories that have fascinated New Orleanians for generations. We’ll talk history, a little architecture, and drinking tales. I will mold the content and venues based on group interest.
Not just a ghost tour! John’s a never ending book of NOLA knowledge, religion, architecture, history, cocktails, he’s got it all. Such a fun way to learn about the cities past. Cocktails were unique and you can tell the bars we stopped at loved our guide. Would 100% recommend!
one of the more historically accurate tours I’ve had the pleasure of being on accompanied by references. had a great time and enjoy local drinks
This is a great way to get a history of the ghost and cocktail scene in New Orleans.
John’s knowledge of New Orleans’ history and narratives he created for the tales he shared were so enjoyable; it made me feel connected to them and their struggles in life. The drink offerings at the three stops were thoughtfully presented and built upon each other well. My two friends and I agreed it was a great tour, and it makes us want to come back to NOLA to learn more.
This was easily one of the highlights of my trip to New Orleans. The knowledge, enthusiasm, and personal touches throughout the experience made it feel so much more authentic and memorable than a typical tour. John has an incredible way of blending history, ghost stories, cocktails, and local culture into something that’s genuinely engaging from start to finish. You can tell he truly loves the city and loves sharing it with people. We learned so much, laughed a lot, and walked away with a much deeper appreciation for New Orleans. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the city — especially if you want something thoughtful, entertaining, and full of personality.
