The advantage to having done more pub crawls than anyone else in the city, is that I have the widest range of classic bars, and the best bartenders in the city, at my disposal. These people are my friends. New Orleans is a cocktail town, with reason. This is an evening of classic concoctions, ghost stories, city history, drinking tales, and voodoo. I’ll tie all of these points together into a cohesive experience of chills, laughs, and must-have drink suggestions. This is still well-researched history, but I’m here to make it fun. Let me save you from the dull recitation of New Orleans’ bullet points – I put on a show. This is storytelling, and through these stories, I will help you connect with one of the most amazing cities on the planet.
I will balance the tour locations based on group interest. This is an introduction to the important signature drinks of New Orleans. However, this is definitely unpretentious. You are not required to buy anything, drink what you wish. In between bars, we will visit some historical, and haunted locations, while I weave all the content into a well-rounded evening. This is perfect for groups with a wide range of interests…..except vampire stories, I don’t do vampire stories, those are made up.
It is logistically easier to let you buy your own drinks, I don’t provide them
1850 House Museum (523 St Anne) in Jackson Square(Google Map)
5 P.M. or 8 P.M (Private bookouts available)
We will visit classic and neighborhood bars that have some of the best bartenders in the city. With drinks in hand, we will walk and stop at historical places between each bar, and hear some of the old ghost stories that have fascinated New Orleanians for generations. We’ll talk history, a little architecture, and drinking tales. I will mold the content and venues based on group interest.
the host was very knowledgeable and he had good cocktail recommendations
If you’re trying to decide whether this tour is worth it, book it! You won’t regret it. The perfect mix of history, ghost stories, and cocktails, the tour never felt cheesy or overly scripted. John was incredibly knowledgeable and did an amazing job weaving together the city’s fascinating history with legends and local folklore. John really performed the stories he told with enthusiasm, it was so much fun to watch. The cocktail stops were excellent too. They weren’t just random spots they each had their own character and history, making the drinks feel like part of the experience. We left with a much deeper appreciation for the city’s unique culture, architecture, and past. 10/10 absolutely recommend
John is very knowledgeable and a great storyteller! He made practical points and provided modern references to help us make connections. He made it a point to learn where we were all from and provided a relevant fact or story about our individual cities to personalize the tour. It’s obvious he’s passionate about New Orleans and its history. We also had a really great group, so it made it extra lovely and personable. Thank you for making our first trip to New Orleans a great one, John!
John is a great tour guide and very knowledgeable with the neighborhood and history of it. The ghost stories he tells are very interesting and he paints the picture of the stories really well. Would recommend this tour to anyone who’s looking to learn more about the local cocktails, history, and a good time.
Amazing tour! John is so knowledgeable and really takes you to places more off the beaten path you wouldn’t find otherwise! Definitely get bang for your buck.
