Complete circuit of the city, all neighborhoods including the Garden District, and hard to find cemeteries,
We’ll do a little walking and some driving, and I can design a tour to visit any part of the city with stops based on your interests: architecture, brewpub/cocktails, food, etc. If you don’t have a preference, I have a wonderful route where we cover the expanse of the city from up and down river, river to the lake – covering highlights of the Garden District, Magazine St, and stop at a hard-to-get-to cemetery locals love, and tourists never find. Yah, it’s N.O. people have favorite cemeteries. We usually stop for beignets, or my favorite gumbo under the oaks, in City Park.
On all my walking tours in the French Quarter, I encourage people to push further along, explore the extremities of the city – get into the outstanding array of neighborhoods here in New Orleans. It’s an amazing city literally in every direction, and it’s a mistake if you leave without understanding the breadth of how special it is, and what makes it tick. You can drive for hours in this city and it remains beautiful and interesting throughout – most visitors don’t see most of it.
So, I offer this to get people out of the French Quarter, providing the experience to expand the scope of your future explorations. You can then plan and revisit these neighborhoods on subsequent visits. You’ll now understand the layout of the city and know the important stories that have molded this special place.
I usually pick up, and drop off, people in the French Quarter
